It offers HDMI output for live viewing up to 1080p / 30 fps, SD card recording, and PC mode operation via USB, while being compatible with any Leica microscope equipped with a C-mount.

The Leica MC170 HD is a high-end digital camera designed for microscopic imaging in laboratory, educational, documentation, and quality control settings. Equipped with a 5-megapixel 1/2.3" CMOS sensor, it enables the acquisition of high-resolution still images as well as smooth video at up to 30 frames per second in HD720 or Full HD 1080. Its direct-to-screen display via an HDMI 1.3 output offers real-time viewing with no perceptible latency, while standalone recording onto an SD card allows for capture without a computer. The camera can also operate in PC mode, where it is powered via USB and controlled through the Leica Application Suite (LAS) software for acquisitions, advanced settings, and image processing. It offers several integrated features, including automatic or manual white balance, advanced exposure settings, various video (MP4) and image (JPG/TIF) formats, and a menu system accessible via remote control. Compact (92 × 67 × 52 mm) and very lightweight (250 g), the MC170 HD is easily mounted via its C-mount thread onto Leica stereo, macro, or optical microscopes. Its robust construction and USB power supply make it suitable for a wide range of environments, including cleanrooms.
