Cosmetic condition
The BioTek Synergy 2 is a modular multimode microplate reader. It combines several detection technologies into a single, compact instrument. Depending on its configuration, it measures UV-visible absorbance, fluorescence intensity (FI), fluorescence polarization (FP), time-resolved fluorescence (TRF), and luminescence. It is therefore suitable for ELISA assays, nucleic acid and protein quantification, cell-based assays, and screening applications. For absorbance, a monochromator covers the 200 to 999 nm range in 1 nm increments, using a xenon flash lamp. For fluorescence, the system uses filters mounted on interchangeable wheels. It features top and bottom reading and a photomultiplier tube (PMT) detector. The source is a tungsten-halogen lamp for FI/FP and a xenon flash for TRF. The device accepts 6- to 1536-well microplates in standard SBS format, as well as the BioTek Take3 plate for micro-volumes. In luminescence, it reads up to 384-well plates. Versions equipped with the dispenser module (D) include two injectors powered by 250 µL syringes, ideal for fast kinetics and flash assays. The 4-Zone temperature control regulates incubation from ambient +4 °C up to 50 °C. Internal plate shaking ensures sample homogeneity. Control and data analysis are handled by Gen5 software, which manages protocol programming, data reduction, and automation (OLE). The device connects via USB or RS-232.
